Suggested Immobilization Test

DSS

A Suggested Immobilization Test (SIT) is conducted in the evening prior to diagnostic polysomnography (sleep study).  The SIT uses rest duration to provoke symptoms of restless legs.  During the SIT, you will sit in bed while reclining with your feet outstretched.

Any stimuli, for example TV, video games or music are minimised for around an hour while the test is conducted.  The test lasts around 60 minutes and during this period you are to stay relaxed with eyes open and keeping your legs as still as possible.

You are prevented from massaging your legs or attempting to fall asleep.  If you do happen to fall asleep you will be awakened by the sleep scientist to continue the test.

If you require any further assistance, information, or would like to make an appointment, please contact us on 1800 155 225 (freecall) Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5 pm or send us an enquiry via our contact us page.
